As per this theory, light is a kind of unsettling disturbance. The particles of the medium, vibrate toward a path, at right point to the direction of propagation of disturbance. The process is called wave motion. When two or more wave motions travelling through a medium superimpose on each other, a new wave is formed in which resultant displacement at any instant is equal to the vector sum of the displacements due to individual waves at that instant. The light is a form of energy which goes through a medium as transverse wave motion.
